Xian Jiao tong University is a national university. It is established in Shanghai in 1896. Initially its name was Nan yang Public which was later renamed as Jiao tong University in 1921. Under the direction of the state council the university was shifted to Xian, and was renamed as Xian Jiao tong University (XJTU). Xian Jiao tong University is offering programs in ten areas and they are science, engineering, medicine, economics, management, art, law, philosophy, education. Research at Xian Jiao tong University is primarily focused on meeting the needs of the nation. The University is mainly working to shorten the time needed to transform laboratory results into productive products and processes. Around the year 2000 the university has been awarded 31 national science and technology prizes. From the year 2000 the university has developed cooperative relationships with 145 universities and research institutions in 42 countries and regions. Xian Jiatong University is situated in the city of Xian in Shaanxi province. It has three campuses one is the Xingqing campus, second one is the Yanta campus and the other one is Qujiang campus.
